It seems the spoilers effect the pitch stability as they are close in line with the horizontal stabilizer resulting in pitch oscillations leading to a dangerous stall. I have to wonder if spolierons would be more effective? Although that wouldn't be scale. Perhaps only using spoilers to burn off some altitude but then retracting them to stabilize flight path before touchdown?
