Taylorcraft Auster Mk.V, reg. OK-BTA, Lycoming O 290-3 engine, pilot Jiří Hruška.
This Auster Mk.V was manufactured in 1945 and served in the Royal Air Force from August 1945 to November 1953. Initially serving as an observation and recconnaissance aircraft at the RAF Boscombe Down, and later with the 661. RAF Squadron at Kenley Airfield (The 312 RAF (Czechoslovak) Squadron also operated from this airfield in 1941) From 1954 to 1972, this Auster, registered as G-ANHZ, flew in the livery of the prominent British airline Channel Airways Ltd. Complete aircraft logs from that time have been preserved. The aircraft underwent a complete restoration in Switzerland from 1994 to 2008. Airplane is equipped with a complete set of original instruments and fitted with the original military engine Lycoming O 290-3 from 1945 rated to 130 Hp which drives Horden Richmond two-blade wooden propeller.
The aircraft wears the livery of 661 RAF Squadron – where it spent most of it‘s military career.
