This is gravity’s jet suit and this is how it flies. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. [Applause] We are here with Paul from Gravity, real life Iron Man. One one of a few in the company, but you’ve been putting on an amazing show for us, and this is what makes it all happen. You must be fed up with the same questions everywhere you go. So, let’s go through some of them real quick. Obviously, it’s a jetpack, load of jet cat turbines. What’s actually in it? Yeah. So, um we fly these these we would call them jetuits actually rather than a jetpack. Um and it’s quite simply seven miniature jet turbine engines. Um like you very rightly said, uh they’re miniature jet cat engines. Um we use 250. Yeah. So, 250 pros. Um seven of them. So, there’s three in the back here and then there’s two on each arm. And we quite simply just balance on the force of those jet engines. So, Seven 250s. That’s 1,750 Ntons of thrust. It’s a lot of power. Yeah. On your back and arms. Yeah. But you mentioned it’s not actually that hard to I mean you got two on the arms each arm. Yeah. So that’s 500 ntons, 50 kilos. But Yeah. So it’s kind of split equally um between kind of the three slightly more on the back. The rear does a lot of the lifting. So that kind of pushes you up and then the arms are kind of there just to kind of hold your stability and then you manipulate your arms to move yourself around. But it’s really heavy on the ground when you’re walking out. Exactly. Hardest part of it is just walking around in it, moving it around, lifting it up from where it is now, cuz it’s about 35 kilos this suit with fueling about 10 liters. Um, but when we whack it on and you’re flying, you’re obviously completely weightless. And it’s a bit like being on crutches, pushing the weight away from you. If you stand there and try and muscle it when you’re learning, it does bite you quite quickly. But if you just lean up and over on top of it, it’s quite quite simple because you’re actually doing like a cone shape. We you kind of expect it to be straight, but you’re not. You’re doing Yeah, we’re slightly wide. We’re in a bit of like a triangle like this, which gives you obviously the extra stability. Exactly. Like a like a nice stable triangle. And the back is facing outwards slightly, too. Yeah. And that gives you kind of the forwards momentum. The arms are kind of pointed down for that downward thrust. And then a slight uh push backwards will then send you forwards and then backwards. And then you start doing this and you go everywhere. Yeah. Exactly. Once you’re really good at it, you can just kind of like manipulate it. And it’s like surfing or skiing or snowboarding. You don’t really think about So much fun. It’s the best fun. Yeah. And you can actually come have a go. really anyone’s able to book online and and come have a go. So, you’ll have to try and come down for us. So, if we get to what a a million a million views, subscribers, or just any excuse, we’ll we’ll we’ll be coming over for sure. Yeah. Make great content, that’s for sure. From from an outsider’s point of view, we’re surprised. This this is how you fly. So, you don’t have an actual suit prior to to the jet. So, this is actually ready to go right now. So, there’s nothing stopping me just turning this on and going for a flight right now. Um you can be airborne in about 30 seconds. You mentioned that you you don’t burn your legs. I mean, if you get a little bit too close, it gets warm, but Instinct just kicks you out the way anyway. Yeah. So, it’s actually super simple. Yeah, it’s super simple and it’s it’s designed to be as simple as possible. Um, our engineering team do a great job of kind of making it as simple as possible um so that anyone can use it like like skiing or snowboarding or riding a bike. It’s very intuitive when you learn um and the learning curve is very different to the individual. So, you always have that one person that picks things up really quickly and other people take a little bit longer. And you hate that one person. Yeah, exactly. So, the guy who got me involved, um, a good friend of mine called Ryan, he picked it up in about three goes and was hovering off safety in three goes, which is just mental. And I took probably about 50 goes to learn it. So, I took forever to learn this, but once you can do it, it’s just so easy to You’re the one that’s here in Norway and the Jet World Masters. Yeah, it’s a great place to be. I mean, look at look at that backdrop. I mean, it’s not a bad place to be flying, right? Pretty good. So, it is insanely loud, though. Yeah, it’s loud. Yeah. I mean, jet engines, right? There’s there’s no way that no one knows what’s going on. As soon as this thing starts, boom, it’s there. If you can’t see it, a lot of people start looking up cuz they think a jet’s flying over. And that’s what’s kind of cool about this is uh but the noise does dissipate if you’re over a hill or something like that quite quickly. And um but yeah, it’s not subtle, but it doesn’t need to be. So, it’s quite fun, but adds to the drama. And with a bright orange helmet, it’s definitely Yeah. Well, orange is my favorite color, so I’m I’m I’m reckoning my favorite colors right now. So, it’s got to be absolutely wicked. And then obviously you’re based I mean you travel all over the place but you’re based in the UK. Y uh we’re in Norway now. Yeah. This doesn’t seem like an easy thing to just say, “Oh, let’s go to Norway.” So it’s not as not as complex as you think. Um we do make sure that we pack them down appropriately. So we we take all of the fuel out. We drain everything out and we package them nicely um in in these lovely pelic cases that we have and then we basically just ship them over here um on the plane. So it’s quite easy to do that. bit like taking a plane over, you know. I’m kind of I’m kind of upset now because it sounds like you guys actually have an easier job of shipping this here than I do my planes, which is the whole reason why I don’t have any of my planes here and I’m borrowing well, literally everybody else’s because the size of the box, the crate, I mean, this packs down to pretty much a suitcase. Yeah. So, the suit itself, this whole pack is one is one suitcase. And then we take the arms off and and then we we pack those separately and then we take our own fuel pumps but we make sure there’s no fuel or anything in the system. Um the worst thing that we have problems with is batteries as I’m sure you have as well. Yeah. Yeah. So that’s the worst problem is batteries. Um but once you get over that hurdle the rest is quite simple. Nice. So before we go we know you’ve got to fly right now in front of the whole crowd but you mentioned that anyone can try this. Definitely. Yeah. So you have a couple of bases where we can do that. Yeah. So we have flight training facilities. Uh we have our main HQ in the UK um in Somersets and then we also have a facility in Bakersville, California as well. And we’re slowly expanding to bring some more into the the world. Hopefully expanding to different parts of the world. Um but for the moment California and the UK is where it’s at. So yeah, anyone can come along. You can look on our website www.gravity.co. Um booking for flight training and we can come learn to fly. I I I think I think I see a trip to the UK in in the not too distant future. Hopefully, I think you’ll be pretty good at it as well with your control on planes and I think it’s transferable. So, I I would love to say I believe you. No, I think I think you’ll be there. Yeah, it it’s uh definitely something that must be an absolutely amazing experience and uh I mean it’s so cool to watch and to have a go. Must be. Yeah, there’s nothing quite like it. I mean it’s really hard to describe what it’s like. It’s just that effortless free flight, like you’re dreaming and you’re just effortlessly flying around. Um, and like there’s there’s three stages that I always say is like you see it online, you’re like, “Oh, that’s cool. That’s amazing.” Um, then you see in real life and you’re like, “Oh my god, it’s real.” Yeah. And then you have a go and it’s like, “Oh, it’s it’s possible. It’s like this is I can see it now.” The only issue that I see with that is that you see it online. Yeah. You see it in person, you have a go and then you go home. Yeah. I’m not sure having one go or one day of training no is uh you’re probably going to want you’re going to want more. You’re going to want more. Well, you need to come join the race series that we’re developing and come learn to fly this and and come racing with us cuz that’s fun. I mean having like eight or nine pilots in the air close close proximity loud fast flybys tight corners. That’s exciting. All very very cool stuff. Well, thanks Paul. Really appreciate it.
