we are back in Dubai we have a load of planes to fly let’s have some fun here’s Gonzo it’s time to BL an airplane so even though that’s the Gonzo that we already know they’ve expanded to a newer bigger Warehouse there’s the big 2.8 M Matrix that Rio is going to fly and hopefully I’m going to get a chance to have a go on as well and I think just behind it you can see a big box so as seems to be now tradition When we arrive in Dubai our good friends at Gonzo have got a big box ready for us with a plane in it although as per usual there’s nothing inside plan right yeah we have to finish it in what hour okay so it’s uh big fc1 yeah 3 m m same as mine back in Spain I took about 2 months to build it we have have now basically an afternoon this is uh 320 p.m. stop talking got to get building yep now let go care just to prove a point pilot RC boxes very strong and not easy to get into so they always arrive in one piece that’s for sure and just to prove we weren’t kidding that’s one boxed up fc1 in Orange okay so we’re not going to be doing too much recording cuz we’ve got a lot to do in non much time but so far we got Carlos helping he’s going to start installing servos I’m preparing things so he can continue installing servos and hopefully while he’s doing that I can get the bu and start thinking about how the heck we’re going to install the turbine and a fuel bag which isn’t what com cuz the KCK comes with a fuel tank go okay teamw work Makes the Dream work so we’ve got Carlos installing the servos in the wings for both aons and flaps we’ve got Hermes has taken over handling the vector thrust pipe and the thrust pipe screwing everything in place We’ve Got Big Boss Mustafa over here who’s installing the elevator servos into the fuselage and Rio is taking forever to finish his Matrix in order to avoid having to help build the fc1 other than that it’s all good yeah so quick progress report we’ve got the front landing gear installed with the servo installed onto its mounting bracket the elevators fortunately on the fc1 have absolutely no work to be done to them so they’re finished same for the canopy uh the wings have now got all their servos in got the wires coming out the end there still got to put the uh two to ones on them the rudder is also ready to go with the servo inside we have our fuselage which now has our elevator servos installed and the wires run down the bottom got the main landing gears in just need to root the wires for the ret tracks and the brakes and we’ve got our thrust pipe and Vector system ready to go adjusted slop free just ready to be screwed in so we can then put the turbine in the center and the fuel bag down there and we’ll be pretty much ready to go we have lost a few members of the team on the way but they keep coming in and coming back so we’ll be back soon back to work if Carlos doesn’t break everything first so we’ve just seen that even though we were doing really well we managed to put the uh ret tracks in upside down so when it tried to retract which would normally obviously come out they were actually going up further into the fuselage so uh minor set back uh 10 minutes time hopefully we’ll have things put the right way around and it’ll actually work oops but making the most of having removed the retracts with the help of our good friend Matel we’re getting the fuel bag in rather than the uh fuel tank so that should save some weight avoid the header tank and provide us bubble free use throughout the flight so we got the carbon DS on either side we’re threading it through the carbon over here and we’re making up some wooden pieces to go just about there perfect and we’ve got Mustafa on soldering duties making extension leads for all our batteries Carlos is in his [Music] element it’s getting late but we’ve got the landing gear back in turbines getting screwed in bags ready to go for the fuel almost there although we do have ever less people left in here with faith that we’re going to finish today it is dark outside but we’re almost there starting to come together we got Wings on elevators on time to sort out the power box get all the wiring done start programming then just Bolt the nose on we’re almost there it’s getting late and uh energy levels are definitely down but things are going wiggle wiggle so we just got to get the nose on and we’ll be good to go it looks like we on track to actually build a jet in a day scratch that a jet in an afternoon pil make it easy a quick break from the plane when it’s just about done it’s late it’s the final piece of the puzzle it’s ready to go just need to join the two halves together and she’s ready to play yeah don’t look too far inside it’s a mess but it’s been built in an afternoon can’t say much more than that 11:35 in the evening so officially it has been a one day build we started around 3 3:30 in the afternoon what that 7 8 hours later we have a jet ready to M it as you can see unfortunately it’s dark out obviously it’s 11:30 at night so we’re going to have to wait to fly it till the morning but we have a fully functioning fully operated we’ve got the vector on the back we’ve even got all the gyo set up for that so that’s all working well [Music] [Music] we finished by midnight with 25 seconds to spare one day build all we need now is a good day tomorrow charge all the batteries and go have some fun now it’s time for bed and tomorrow F in Dubai really starts good night guys [Applause] [Music] [Applause] this [Applause] okay uh interesting so one doesn’t go up and one doesn’t come down but one well that didn’t quite go to plan uh we obviously as you saw had one gear that wasn’t going in and one gear that then wasn’t coming out the one that wasn’t coming out was entirely our fault uh because we checked everything and then put the lids on which cover up that uh triangle there which then caught on the gear on one side our bad but that was fine we’ve cut a hole in there no issue the other one though the one that didn’t go in well that one seems to be basically faulty because the uh threaded insert that moves the retract in and out uh basically has no thread on it so it seems like it probably had a very thin thread which as soon as it was put under any stress at all just disappeared so we now have to figure out out a new landing gear situation so much for fun day 2 so that’s the part that lost the thread on the inside all we’ve done we found a spare landing gear which has the same diameter pin same thread on the motor we’ve dismantled it taken that out and we’ve put the new one into our existing retra and she’s good to go time for round two hopefully no more issues so yesterday we weren’t able to fly the plane after fixing it because we had a short day CU in the afternoon we had some fun doing a desert [Music] Safari goodbye go [Music] but today we’ve got a whole day ahead of us looking forward to getting some proper flights on the fc1 fingers cross [Applause] [Music] w no [Music] [Applause] [Applause] oh [Applause] [Music] a [Music] w [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh [Applause] go D go d yes [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh w oh [Music] all [Applause] oh I [Music] [Applause] here [Music] got [Applause] w [Music] a oh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] wow help help help help R to knife edge [Applause] [Applause] very pleased to say that after all the issues of having to build a plane and the landing gear problems finally the fc1 is flying amazing and today we had an awesome day flying not only the big fc1 we also got to test the 2.8 Matrix which is an absolute Beast of a machine also got to fly the F5 from Tomah hort well now made by CM Jets so looking forward to finishing my own one of those at home when I get back and even got to try the elite AOS Sports bdx really cool smooth flying airplane awesome day just what we wanted to finish off the trip here in Dubai [Music]
