And that’s my RC-Factory Crack Yak Mini! A lot of you probably saw the live build here on YouTube a few weeks ago, so I won’t go over too much of it, just the basics and my own personal tweaks! The setup itself is the Combo offered by RC-Factory, which includes a small T-Motor AT2202/2300 with it’s 15A speed controller (which seems somewhat overkill but hey, it works..) all powered by smaller than the smallest Opti, so instead went with the RC-Factory setup, these being Infinity 260mAh 2S’es. All of which, as you can see, runs perfectly for this model. Now when it comes to servos, I must be quite demanding I suppose, as I usually either break or find fault with, well, any servo, except my top of the line MKS’s which are obviously too huge for this. Going with the recommended combo though, the small HS40’s have actually been doing a great job! Observant viewers may however have noticed that my aileron servo doesn’t have the see through case of an HS40, and you would be right. The video I uploaded a couple of weeks ago was with the stock servo, however I felt that even though the plane rolled great, it would sometimes lag, or kind of stick certain positions… I figured I may be a little short on torque and getting blow back, so tried installing an HS45 I had lying around… The result? Yes the response is ever so slightly crisper, but the difference is marginal. I am leaving it in there, but that is mostly because I don’t want to hack it out of the plane again, so anyone building one of these can go ahead with either servo and expect basically the same result. What about that lag and sticking though? Well, I took a closer look at the model and found that there was a little bit of twist, both along the chord of the wing, and in the tail. Remember, this is a tiny plane, and you need to keep it light, which is exactly what the RC-Factory team have done, and for a lot of people, most probably wouldn’t tell the difference, in which case being lighter and more crash resilient (less inertia) is worth the flex. For demanding pilots though, or just the curious, add a few extra strips of carbon rod in a criss cross along the fuselage and supporting the wing as I did here, and regain that bit of precision that we were previously missing. Let’s not fool ourselves though, this is no pattern plane, and if running full rates, it can and will be a hand full when you get a bit over excited! I am currently running the wrong prop on it as I have killed the original (which actually works way better with more power and longer flight times than this orange thing!) But that is why I wanted this plane, and why I would recommend it to anyone wanting to push and improve! Heck, its small, its cheap, and it even gets me twitching to keep up, all of which is great for reflexes and control, all of which can later be applied to larger models; which will seem easy after this one! Anyway, with that final reccomendation, I have spent way too long talking, and it is time to get back out there flying!   1. Ya adding those extra carbon struts to stiffen the tail is an an absolute must for me, put them on mine a few months ago to straighten/ stiffen the tail and it made a huge difference 😀
