It’s dinosaurs. [Music] We’re back in Germany. Our good friend Ramy RC. Hey guys. And this year we’ve got the A380 here. Yeah, the small one. It was a big one. The medium one. We’ve all seen you working on the massive one. Right. So, first of all, you recently hit that 1 million subscribers. Oh, man. Congrats, dude. Thank you, buddy. Thank you. Yeah, it’s Hey, it’s it’s so overwhelming at at one point. It’s unbelievable like how much support I’m receiving or we are receiving. It’s it’s amazing, you know. I’m I’m just like the project. Thank you. I’m I’m so grateful. I’m grateful that people, you know, actually enjoying this content, which is it’s amazing. I’m really thankful. Thank you for mentioning that. All right. So, we’ve all seen the videos, but behind the scenes, a few questions which I at least I’m interested in. So, number one, okay, when you guys have spent all this time building these amazing models, right, how nervous do you get? And Tyler too, if we compare that to say how nervous you were when you made the A380 that you’ve flown today. Okay. Are you more confident because you’ve done more of them? So the scale of it, let me start. I I am more confident because I’m not flying the thing. Well, we have seen that Tyler flies and I’m well. It’s so and I know Tyler. Okay. Of course, I am always more nervous, you know, because like my praying is like, yes, I’m saying the blame flies. I mean, like with everybody, but you are like what could go wrong now or now or maybe not now or like you’re really open all your senses hearing something weird. So, yes, I’m way like I am my senses are like to a thousand. So, I am nervous. Tyler, of course, is nervous, but he is in control as well. He’s in control of course like like it’s all on him but of course we are nervous especially when you fly then no matter how com he says like I’m okay I get nervous you know I know that he is he he’s like he’s he’s a great pilot but there’s some nerves somewhere down there if there’s no nerves you’re doing something wrong you’re not interested any but and as well like I asked him that question once and he said you know what Romy I trust in you guys experience and and what you guys are building in here that I trust in you that I I I’m not so nervous and I know that this plane with flag good I know this plane is is well built and well uh trimmed and tweaked so I am still right you want to compare to when I used to build the lawn oh it’s it’s it’s way less than I used to when I interesting yes of course way less yeah like many of Ramy’s videos and also those from my good friend Joel Flashoff who filmed this entire interview for Hey, Martin. Convince yourself. Okay. No. So I’ve I had my F5 smaller than this one now, which we displayed here last year. Right. And this year we flown it and we made them last week. So it took me a year pretty okay all the things in between but it took us a year to sort out the niggly bits because it is a prototype. It is for a company who’s going to release it. So we had to not only make the changes but provide them with those modifications must be a perfect thing. Yeah. I understand that you guys are doing this for yourselves. So you have to fix the things but you can save the part of having to actually tell people what you’ve done. But right the amount of time that I spent on silly little things right but I didn’t expect to be so complicated or difficult and I can just imagine that on the models that you guys are doing right you must come across a load of these unexpected issues even things like just getting the gear door geometries right and things like that right in the videos what we see is it’s just Assembling assembling right so how much time off camera actually I mean you must come across these problems yeah yeah yeah all with every model like every model every model we we build is a oneoff model there is no second one of it there is of course that one we finished move to the next one now there’s one thing to keep in mind of course you run into hiccups yes that did not fit that did not work as was designed but in CAD and in design premodeling before the things goes. I um how can I say it? I have uh I developed methods that worked for me every single time. So to a degree you even though it’s a different model many parts or the parts got the idea like you can cop would work on that model. Okay. It needs to be bigger. Scale it on the CNC and it works. So it works. But still most of our cuts are done by hand. Yeah. And as a builder as well, you’re a builder yourself. We have this eyeballing ability. Yeah. Right. Well, often what looks right can be right. You know, you everything and but but the the critical things and and in the design everything is done in the design before the blade even goes to machine. Yeah. Sometimes we have issues for example with um stabilizers u angle of incidence for you know this is it’s always a tricky one tricky one looks right why like should I should I go with like a zero degree I go with a zero degree and I I need 10 clicks up you know between each model there are differences but we I picked up a standard between my you know the wing profine to the wash out to the angle of the base I found like the balance between all that and now I’m similating all that and it’s working perfectly for me it’s super flawless but those small heck up these to be honest are the fun part for me because I still have to the ability to tackle them by hand not just the machine is doing it yes machine the machine is cutting the bar but me I am enjoying I mean, oh, that not work on the machine. Please give me I want to do this. Just you just make it look so You make it look so easy. That’s all. I think in the videos it does seem like it, right? Because it’s all, you know, timelapse. Quick, quick, quick. Do this. It just works first time. Yeah. I I don’t have to first time. No. Right. No. Awesome. You know that. Yeah. Sometimes I have to cut the bar twice, but I don’t have to show that on the camera. Yeah. Because for what? That’s why this is behind the scenes. It’s behind the scenes. Now, it’s so easy to find big big airplanes here at Jet Power. And inside the tent, obviously, we have all the shops, stalls, and among the stalls, we have people that sell things like glues, epoxies, paints, and so on. Something that I’ve been attracted to your videos by is that sometimes we get to see what for me seems to be you’re using different kinds of materials. So, whenever you uh you cover a wing in in carbon, for example, you seem to coat it with red stuff, right? Or when you’re gluing stuff, you must use a load of this green glue, right? I’ve never seen whatever the red stuff is. And green epoxy is something that I mean, I’ve heard of Zap, all that, but they’re white, creamy, even black, right? How do you come to find these unusual different or maybe it’s standard in America and I’m just the out of the loop player in Europe? The things you find in America are different than here. Yeah. You it’s a complete different market. Everything is different. Different. Okay. So I have Will in there which I love this guy. Mhm. He is he growth and sources things that I have never even heard about that you didn’t even ask for cuz you didn’t know it exist. Hey, like we need this type of glue. So we used to use parabol. Mhm. A lot. And we need this type of glue. He’s like, “Okay, you know what? I’m going to find something better.” And he does. He’s so good at it, you know. So he goes and he found us this green door 3M. Yeah. Fantastic. Now we there is a new company now. We want to work with them. Also another those cartridges adhesives also fantastic stuff. Uh this red stuff that we this is simply super technical names. Green stuff. The red stuff. Red stuff you know. Wait, wait until you hear about the wing stuff. Anyway, got that. Just beep it beep. We got it. It’s cool. Behind the scenes as we Anyways. Anyways, so this is silica and micro balloons. It’s it’s a micro balloons that is not white. It’s it’s it has this red micro blades. We could not find anything. So, we bought it. And also, I’m sorry cuz I’m sometimes too lazy to write all the components on the video. Like I and I’m just like I have time just throw the footage together and make a video because that’s fine. Just link them to this video. Okay. And then we go to this and here you hear about all the material. So this is silica as well. So this is silica mixed with epoxy and micro balloons. This is to give us the best bond between between the two materials and the carbon because traditionally here like or when when you want to wrap a fuselage that is out of form they use fab glass then balsa can sand the balsa spent two years on sanding the place and another year and the layer like our friend lo sanding. Are you still sanding? I’m still sanding. Yeah. Never stopped until this day. He he would have come but he’s still sanding. He’s still sending his uh his air tractor, I think. But so this is so what we’re what we’re doing like this is actually also to to find the quickest ways possible. Yeah. Get it down, get it dry, droo on. We can ride that A380 in whole week. What’s full? Nice. In and out. Would you say that’s is that probably the the material that’s helped you advance the most or is there one one thing that you said this has really changed how we how we like the silic it’s been used for years but when we started with like we were also experimenting because we you know was born I’m a master we were also learning we started like the C7 had zero silicon on it bathrooms we just put the dry fabric on the on the foam and just with the box and keep peeling and peeling. It worked, but we had to sock it. Yeah. With this, it’s fantastic. It’s It saved so much time. It’s a smidge more weight, but it is It is so easy to work with. Awesome. So, that’s nice insider tips, right? We need red stuff and green stuff. Not very big stuff. Anyways, you you you were full of cold yesterday. You’ve made the effort to come here, spend a day with us now, but you’ve been taking selfies with everyone, being a great guy, and you’re starting to suffer. So, we’re here. We have something behind us, which is more your scale. No, no, there we’re not. Oh my god. Not maybe. No, we will never go there. No, it’s too big. But we were talking motors and EDFs earlier. Now, obviously, everything that you guys do is is electric. It’s EDF, right? In the last project, the trip 7, you used these incredible EDF massive motors. Mad BDFs. What size were they? 390 mm. 390 mm. So, they have Yes, it’s it’s I mean, I think I saw first video or second video where I didn’t lift the EDF. It’s that right. And it has massive motors. It runs on 28s each and we’re running it on uh between 23,000 and 28,000 milliamps. And uh so a lot of pack that’s that’s a lot of iPhone charging. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. But you’re now working on the your latest project which is obviously the the A380 now. Yeah. Which is in full scale. It’s a it’s a larger plane but you’re doing I think the same size. Same size. Same. So same wingspan. only wingspan fus of course shorter different uh but the 380 then it’s going to be fatter even though it’s the same wingspan right what what EDFs are we putting in that cuz obviously that has also not not the same because uh the turbo 7 the turbo 7 x the the the engines it has the the the G9 the G9X actually from motors yeah I don’t know G9X also massive in real life like have you seen indices that the nest itself is the same diameter as a 737. Yeah, it’s crazy. Yeah. Yeah. So, it is big in general. So, on the A380, the EDFs on the one that we’re building now, the 10 m wingspan, EDFs are this. They’re not going to be like the Turbo 7. They are 80% the size of that. So, I can’t help but ask. The plane itself is currently the same scale, right? But you have bigger motors available to you. What was the thought process of no, let’s not continue with with four of these 390s and do it as big as let’s make it the same as with the smaller motors. Not that it’s small by any standard whatsoever. Okay. So, we’re going with smaller motors. We’re not going to use the same ones on the on the trip 7. But you could have you could have you could have made a bigger up with those motors. They’re available to you. Then the blend would have to be more than 30 m wingspan. No, no, no, no. So, so I don’t follow the motor to determine the scan. No, sir. I don’t do that. It would be crazy. Imagine. So, okay. So, it’s never going to happen. But if the video gets a million views, you have to make No, no. Get viewing subscribing. No, that’s not good. We can push him a little bit. Listen. No. No. Like that super 7 is such an amazing plane. Yeah. Although it’s electric, it’s effortless to plug in and fly. Yeah. Still with those big ass batteries, four of them, each one weighs 25 kilos. Yeah. You have to It’s a bit of work to charge to plug in. Yeah. But still to get it out of the bar to the runway and fly it, it’s work. You can figure that out. I’m sure it’s not. But it’s like like like me and T like even Tyler said you know what it’s 30 ft this is enough we should not go more than that because it only just goes through the door as well right I mean no yeah right we have the assembly is still but that size is amazing it’s too big 6 m like the C7 is actually a fantastic size and we’ve done that we will the A38 we don’t know what or if there will the next one. Yeah. But A380 is going to be also electric. Yeah. But we’re not going to scale it to be to match the motors that we have. It’s But it’s got a lot of views on the Thanks Ramy for the uh for the chat. So what’s the red stuff you use to cover the foam before you apply the carbon fiber.
I'm an average RC pilot at best and get nervous often, especially with a complex expensive model and my right thumb then twitches which makes a 100 point roll possible! Amazed Ramy and Martin get nervous as well.
