  1. Hi Martin, thank you for a very nice video showing the devoloptment in model scale planes over the last few years. It's mind blowing to see how far the deailing went, compared to planes say 35-40 years ago. Another thing I've noticed is how many of these planes are kits at the base, not scratch build from a drawing (that's what I am used to, when I was building flying model planes).

  2. The static dischargers on the back of the wing are to discharge static electricity mostly so it doesn’t interfere with radio communication not for lightning strikes. Lightning strikes are not normal and us jet pilots stay away from them. On most jets you can be missing one or two static dischargers, and if you’re missing any more than that, or they are broken, then you cannot fly the jet. I carry replacements when I fly in case one gets broken. They simply just screw off and the new ones screw back on. They cost about $100 each to replace so I stick flags on them after landing to make sure the ground crew doesn’t run into them and snapped them off. They’re very brittle.

  3. I went to visit the 1st (Neu Ulm, 1995) and 2nd (Wroughton UK, 1997 – the same week Princess Diana died) JWM. It's so cool to see how r/c (jet) flying has developed since. From screaming and unreliable nitro ducted fans with very basic 40MHz equipment to proper big turbine jets!
