hi everyone and welcome to another video this time we’re going to be talking about that thing that everyone wants and everyone wants to be and that is sponsored now people who know me know that I appreciate my sponsors and if it wasn’t for them I simply couldn’t do what I love doing in this video I’m actually going to show you so the product that I’m going to be using to build my new 3 meter Red Wings Leonardo and whilst I do that I’m also going to explain to you how to get sponsored and what it actually means because sadly a lot of people misunderstand the sponsorship as receiving free stuff and sure that may be part or discounted prices could be part of that sponsorship but by no means is that all it is sponsorship is forming part of a team and you get sponsored to help that team now in no circumstances do you get sponsored to receive just free stuff every sponsorship is a collaboration between you and your sponsor and the idea is that with your help they’re going to get back a lot more than what they give you that’s actually fair and that’s how it works so if they give you one of their products they’re going to expect you to advertise it promote it give them feedback on that product so that then they can sell 5 10 20 or 100 of those same products you’ve received that product at a great price or free they’ve been able to receive the promotion and get sales that’s a true sponsorship if you don’t get them sales you’re not going to be sponsored a lot that’s as simple as it is sponsorship contract by MKS some hats transmitter straps t-shirt and where is a good day here we are servos okay so if sponsorship isn’t about free stuff and you have to help your sponsor to improve their sales how are you going to do that simple you don’t actually need to be the best flyer you need to be the best promoter so get out there get on social media get on YouTube make some great pictures awesome videos heck as I say it doesn’t need to be the best flying take a nice picture of the plane on the ground doesn’t need to be flying or do anything anything anything special it just needs to show their product in a good way if you can get that sorted your sponsorship will be as well now here we actually have some of the latest servers by MKS these are the ds9 nine tens specifically designed around jets so more on these later once we actually get them going in the jet we’ll see how they compare to some of the other servers that I’ve been using previously but how do you get started in sponsorship how do you get those collaborations working well that all depends on how visible you are on those social medias and networks that we just mentioned the more visible you are the greater the chance that brands or companies are going to actually search and look for you to help their brand I would recommend don’t try to get in at the top don’t go for the biggest brand the most prestigious brand go for a local shop go for a local brand or go for a slightly less known brand that you feel confident that you can a use and be comfortable with but also that you can help them get more exposure that you can help them increase their sales at very least in your area don’t bombard them with emails though we’ve all done it our Nikoli myself in that and I can say now on barding companies with a standard email sent out to every company you can think of doesn’t work it doesn’t get the response that you want and will rarely get you sponsored you can actually try getting sponsored for free Ramin sponsored for free yeah exactly that pretend that you already sponsored act as if you were sponsored for that slightly less known or local brand put a sticker on your plane wear their t-shirt promote their brand on social media do a video or two everyone’s got a camera phone everyone’s on Facebook everyone has internet so there’s no excuses to it the very least get started and give it a go do that promotion for them don’t expect immediate responses and results but give it a little time and you’ll probably find that more times than not something will come of that if you’re doing things in the right way now many years ago when I was starting out before I had any sponsors one of my idols in the RC scene was the great Ally much inchi he was still flying working for horizon hobby producing great models and designs back then I wanted to fly for him and for his shop house hobbies more than anything else in the world there was no point asking him for sponsorship he was in the UK I’m in Spain he doesn’t know me from Joe block and at that time I wasn’t the best flyer either but I started putting stickers of his shop on my plane I would buy stuff from him when I bought stuff from him I would then eventually sending pictures and videos back you’re saying hi thanks for the plane flies great here’s a picture not too far not over the top and eventually and with thanks to any for all the help as well he ended up giving me my first ever sponsorship now the details of that are between him and me as any sponsorship should be but it was a start and that then opened doors to other sponsorships which lead on to more and then it snowballs the more you have the more you’ll get as well providing you keep doing things properly that was in this one this one we have power boxes so that’s a mercury we have the smoke gun and a bag of goodies that’s right so these are all the connectors the terminals the wires everything that’s needed to get the Leonardo up in the air thanks a palace for that as well so it’s also more than just the stuff it’s part of being a team with the help from Ali I was able to get into the power box team as I’m sure you all know by now now the power box team is for me the best team out there at the moment not because they send you more or cheaper or free stuff but because it’s a team when you have a problem the team helps you when they organize an event and you go as part of the team it’s a truly amazing experience so don’t get into this just for free stuff get too into it for the right reasons so you can enjoy the Hobby further so you can go to those extra events and be part of that team anyone who flown big planes before now especially Jets will recognize this box this is the hot bit this is the hot air this is the bit that goes through a hole not a kerosene every flats so much apartment packing in here ridiculous make some noise jetpack p220 rxi a beast of a turbine one that I already have inside the J 10 so that’s going to propel the Leonardo brilliantly can’t wait to get this finished and up in the air so can you be sponsored yeah of course you can how that’s up to you if you’re a great flyer make the most of that if you’re not a great flyer make the most of social networks and whatever you do just remember that for everything that you receive everything that they give you every team that you form a part of you have to give more back than you receive because otherwise you’re gonna get sponsored once and then you’re gonna send them a ton of email or you’re gonna call them again and say hi I need another one of these and they’re gonna say sorry now you why we already gave you one of those got nothing back no photos no videos why would we want to give you another one do it right from the get-go do it right before you’re even sponsored sure try with some of the brands that you want to fly for try for the local brands but just do it for any product that you have you have a plane you have an engine you have a radio you have servos you have a receiver you have batteries promote all of them if you’re already using them you already believe in the brand therefore I think a couple of stickers on and promoting them a little bit isn’t going to harm you in any way and be those same brands or any other brand someone is going to eventually see that you’re promoting brands that you’re doing your part and that you’re an asset to their company therefore that’s the day that you’re gonna get sponsored once you get one just keep doing the same thing over and over again promoting advertising and making sure that the sponsor is getting back more than you are taking out good luck
