anyone who saw my last flying video knows that our clubs have been shut down commerce is basically closed but we can go to work and we can go walk in the park so let’s go walk in the park this is my rc factory edge 540 v3 and at one meter wingspan it’s my largest foaming which is handy as it’s still windy but i can’t wait any longer [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] um [Music] [Music] um i already maxed out the servos in this thing installing four mks ds95s into it with some amazing specs not to mention wicked precision i hadn’t planned on upgrading the power plant however after a couple of unexplained crashes resulting in a couple of bent motor shafts it was time to finish the job that i’d started with the servos the choice it had to be a t-motor setup deciding on the at2312 1150 kv motor with its matching t-motor 20 amp speed controller the power absolutely brutal [Music] but i still kept having strange crashes at least this time the motor kept its composure though like a champ looking into the issue further i finally realized that my super spec servos are also kind of power hungry too with four servos pulling up to a rated .8 of an amp each that’s 3.2 amps being pulled through the speed controller’s 2 amp back sucking too much power the servos were basically turning the receiver off and yeah that makes it kind of hard to control what’s going on fortunately it’s an easy solution though right upgrade the speed controller for one with a meteor back well no in order to gain a 3 amp back which is still a little under what we need we’re looking at speed controllers about twice the size of what we need and for a 5 amp back we’re looking at absolutely huge controllers not designed for this kind of foamy no problem we can pull out the red lead from the throttle channel and power the receiver and servos through an external back but they’re either two to three amps or they’re huge too i just want to go fly in the end i found a workaround with help from my clever friends at rc skills in holland if you haven’t checked these guys out you need to do it so head over to their facebook and give them a follow the solution though run both but that’ll destroy one or both sets of electronics unless that is we include some diodes into the mix diodes are small one-way valves for electricity we just had to install one between the positive lead from the speed controller’s back goes to the receiver that way no power gets sent back to the speed controller and a second diode doing the same to protect the external back this translates to the fact that both speed controller and external beck are both powering the receiver giving a total of two plus three so five amps worth of power but they’re also both protected from each other as no power can shoot back up the system destroying everything thanks to these magic little diodes finally i can actually get a full flight on the edge without it conking out on me talking of which it may be a little bit windy and i may still need some more setup now that it actually flies but let’s go do that anyway [Music] [Music] [Music] hmm [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] hmm [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] wow [Music] [Music] [Music] hmm [Music] [Music] and that’s locked down flying not as good as the full size it’s a bit of fun though and there we have it just a bit of fun the only way we can at the moment hopefully soon we can get back to the flying field and fly some serious models until then thanks for watching and i hope that you found the little trick of the diodes as interesting as i did if that was the case leave us a like subscribe for more interesting content and i’ll see you all in the next one
