the day has finally come my fc1 is here it’s time to unbox it see what’s inside and very soon start with the build now I think the hardest bit of any pilot RC build is actually getting into the box I mean sure they have to ship these things from a long way away [Music] but they do a really good job sealing them I would maybe fast forward this bit just a little bit you also hope not to cut through anything are we in let’s see [Music] new playing time yeah well hey so what color have I gone for any guesses well everything looks good we’ve got a load of foam packing I’m not sure if doing this you’re gonna be able to see much but we’ll pull it all out and take a look so first off at the top we have Wing tube and the carbon push rods which I’m guessing going to be for the vector thrust put those over there they’re not too exciting are they really everything’s taped down what’s in here this sounds like a fuel tank now the whole box is actually divided up into uh sort of four sections with big thick foam pads and everything’s wrapped up very well so all being well everything will be good not quite the fuel tank I was expecting please don’t open the cap of the fuel tank or it will leak okay absorbing that for the CM Jets version well good friend Carlos that’s the wait and see it’s an olive oil bottle back over there too exciting now it is worth pointing out this kit even though I’m only opening it now I did receive it some time ago so anything that you see here may have changed in recent months as just like with the previous video that we mentioned uh we’ve spent the last year ridding the house building workshop yada yada anyway back back to playing we’ve now got all that sorted we’ve finally got the nice Workshop about three times the size of our previous one so looking forward to lots and lots of new builds and with it of course new videos the tail cone I’m gonna Chuck that down there pretty nicely finished I’m not sure if you can see that quite on camera but we’ve got some different colors there to simulate the uh the Heat from the exhaust changing the metal color quite light as well looking promising now then it’s like Christmas this I’m guessing these are going to be the um Sidewinder missiles for the supports for them at least individually wrapped yeah so there there’s a bit to go on the wing tips they stand out about that much of the guess in a kind of metallic black finish as well and absolutely no weight to them which is just what we want because of course this is not only a jet this is a 3D Jet and we’re going to be building this as light as possible the idea initially is to build it as per spec and then I can’t promise that I won’t go all nuts with it like I did with the lizard later on taking out any excess weight that we can that doesn’t mean to say that I’m going to build it heavy in the first place the MKS servos that are already on their way have been chosen not only by talk but also by their weight and the same for everything else in the kit and I guess the vector pipe so of course that’s going to mount but I guess something like that to the back to the tail end and then we’ve got the uh up and down motion for the vector elevator and the side to side your for the vector rudder most important part of any 3D jet that right there now I did order it as well with the uh Toyota RC Wing bags so we want to see the plane though so we’ll open those later no rush for them let’s see let’s go through the small bits first then we’ll get the big jumps out so we’ve got an accessory bag let’s have a quick look at more or less what’s in here I can see there’s a header tank uat to avoid any nasty bubbles see that looks good nice big six millimeter festo output so that I can plug straight into our fuel line got some pieces of wood which are for the fuel tank mount velcros which will probably be replacing and oh of course because yes the um now we’ve got the usual string of screws and accessories that come with all pilot kits but as with most of their Jets and a lot of their lineup now it actually comes pre-prepared with all of their own extension leads so it’s very much Plug and Play just plug the servo in one end and you’ve already got the right length extension lead at the other some of them we can see actually with Multiplex style connectors as well so they’re allowing us to make multiple connections with just one pin we’ll have to uh we’ll have to weigh those and compare it to the weight if we made our own with power box wire which is generally lighter as we said we are going to try and keep it live in the first place before having to go nuts later down the line especially as I’m still not 100 sure which turbine is going to go in this thing it’s either going to be a jet cap P220 which I actually have one in the box from my uh Leonardo that was uh sold for obvious reasons uh or I would really love to put the jet cat P250 in here and I know that they’ve just released a brand new V2 version so depending on the weight uh we might try and get our hands on one of those instead that will really make this thing ballistic in 3D seems to be more bedding oh this is a heavy bit based on the weight I’m gonna guess this is going to be the landing gear I hope it’s the landing gear I hope nothing else is this heavy bingo put that out of there so we’ve got the pilot classy own landing gear for this jet that comes out standard so we’ve got the uh nose leg which has the integrated Servo plate for this steering so the servo moves with the wheel so we’ve got no kind of issues of the old style pull wires that would sometimes latch some sometimes not and then the two main gears as well quite long legs all with the electric brakes we’ll have to wait and see uh quite how she flies or if again we do what we’ve done on the J10 and the lizard which is just remove the brakes entirely and change the wheels for foam versions after all the um electric brakes run on a magnetic coil which is lots and lots of copper which you guessed it is lots and lots of weight trying to lose the screws and it comes with pilot RC’s own electric landing gear controller as well so that also works with a couple of doors which I don’t think this plane has any gear doors so we don’t need that part of it anyway probably wouldn’t be installing them anyway again if we can avoid a couple of servos keep it lighter this oh tin foil can only be one part this is obviously the vector tube it sounds very crinkly that’ll be the outer layer now for anyone not too familiar with Vector pipes or turbine pipes in general should I say normally they have the main inner pipe which is quite strong and then it has an outer layer as well which is doesn’t really have to have any strength or really even heat resistance to it this just helps keep the cool air flowing over the inside pipe on the outside and helps cool it down so this will be sitting in the fuselage the business end of the turbine sits here this will be coming out the back just as it is if it was a normal jet but of course this is a vector jet so we’re going to have the vector pipe sitting on the back controlling all of that thrust so it will rarely be going in a straight line very much on the plane I guess now then that looks like all the main small bits out of the way [Music] this out everything’s really well packed in there so nothing’s moving on its long trip from the factory this will be the uh lower hatch some side hatches side hatches somewhere as well so that’ll be for the access to the turbine and at a gas to the landing gear now how how do we get the rest of it out though strong man um okay bit by bit pull these apart scissors let’s not get the uh blade jammed in anywhere over excited of course first look at the new deck it’s always exciting right first look at any new plane especially the jet they do a better job at wrapping up presents than I do that’s for sure first flying surface and it’s the rudder there so you can see that deflection isn’t going to be any kind of an issue here about massive Reflections on the rudder which is also of course going to be aided by the vector obviously we’re not going to be using that uh that kind of deflection I don’t think at least and is that Honeycutt it is the the rudder itself will have to look at the rest of the plane but I thought this was all composite and uh no I’ll give you guys a close-up in a moment but that’s that’s a honeycomb structure so that’s why it’s it’s keeping it light wow I should know that okay now we’re gonna have two elevators now of course these are fully flying elevators that means there’s no hinges and the whole elevator moves so it’ll be very powerful which is also why but the elevator is about the only surface on the plane where we haven’t really looked at the weight of the servos instead I’ve wanted to go absolutely crazy and install some super high torque High spec servos we’ve gone with one of the MKS X8 lineup with something like uh it’s about 50 kilos but I mean that is the elevator so not all of it is making the servo suffer because only the parts shall we say behind the pivot point is actually going to make the servo suffer the part in front of that is going to help the servo to compensator but if we look at how much is compensating versus how much is actually moving that is a big surface so exactly I think I’m happy with that choice of having a nice big Servo for that and we put this we don’t want to scratch anything so second elevator you could probably just get past it but for the sake of getting everything opened up like a kid on Christmas Day elevator number two now of course because it’s a fully flying elevator there are no holes for servos or anything like that or Servo wires so unfortunately I can’t see how this is built I wonder if this is a honeycomb as well if that’s something that they’ve just limited to the rudder either way it’s still it’s not heavy and it feels like that almost like the heaviest part of that is actually the uh the tube the elevator tube out of there now we’re getting to the big bits now uh if we can get them out that is spread them like that foreign just a curiosity the the wing is Big of course but compared to the elevator the elevator is almost as big as the wing so this thing is going to fly good which of course we already know we’re flowing one at jet power I’ll link that video in the description below for you guys to see as well after this one and of course we’ve been seeing Ralph and Enrico fly their versions for a number of years which is probably why I’m so excited to actually get my hands on having my own one because having seen how they’ve lied for so long I mean these are the guys that designed the carved J10 Ralph was the guy who basically did the first jet hover quite epically at the Joe Knoll over the lake with smoke and everyone just went absolutely nuts so um having owned this one for years and always absolutely loved it and seeing their new model the fc1 which I mean the J10 is great but it’s a very a slow 3D kind of model it doesn’t really like knife edge too much so everything’s very elevator based so to have a plane that is more of a standard aircraft configuration which can do great knife edges just increases the flight envelope exponentially because you can then have 4.0 slow rolls eight point rolls a million point rolls any kind of maneuver that includes Rudder this thing will do it so much nicer and smoother than the J10 will and I was seeing that from these guys and I always wanted one and I can now finally say I’ve got one so very cool and I definitely think we’re going to see it well in the sky I mean it’s the same color scheme coincidentally as the one I flew in Germany at jet power Jetson props yeah so the when we’re back to standard composite construction which is what I was expecting they’re just surprised at the weather with honeycomb so we have one Rudder one Servo which is going to be fitting in here which is going to be controlling the uh the Flack okay and then we have the outboard Servo 48 over there awesome stuff for that and try not to kick it onto Wing number two lizard in that part before we get through the big chunky bit the fuselage this over now you’ve got to love how artfs have come along over the years we used to have to cut Dremel out and glue in all the control horms and now with pilot RC and a number of other brands which is no longer necessary they all come pre-installed ready to hook up to your Trojan server foreign there we go and we have also of course the elster jet branding on there which is that team of two guys Ralph and Enrico I believe there’s actually a third guy in there which is um a friend of the family who also helps out but those are the two main guys that everyone knows goes all go to all the shows and wow us all with their 3D Jets now could do with extra hands here but there we go I don’t want to push too hard because it’s a canopy glasses right there there we go one nose section now I mentioned that I love this plane because it’s it feels like a natural progression from the J10 but there’s a second reason for that and that is that it it has a very distinct look very similar to the F5 which has been for a long time one of my favorite aircraft so much so that my first ever jet some of you may remember which was the car models Ultra Flash I ordered it in white and painted it in the uh Swiss color scheme so to now have a big jet that looks like an F5 and it can do 3D well what more can you ask for really other than fruit to be built and we can go fly it there we go just pull that back out it seems I might need to work out a little bit with a hot air gun just to make sure that stays out but it doesn’t seem to have damaged it so let’s see struggling to get it out over there all right I need more hands one fuselage well front section at least okay so the canopy is held in with a single Bowl to the front I’ve got two pins at the back which will pin it into the AFT section of the fusion Arch quite light let’s see if you can see in there you have all the mounting for the nose gear I just find the just like the j-10 the fc1 doesn’t have any landing gear in the wings everything is in the fuselage which also happens to make it easier for transports but it also means the wings are lighter which means normally better maneuverability as well ah now we’ve got the big bit at the bottom hanging with me we’ll get there perhaps one two what do you think forwards or backwards it’s a jigsaw puzzle let’s try for with less distance to go come on I want to see the fuse blush um so I’m guessing that isn’t possible yeah we are supposed to remove it let’s see if we can cut that off not the best scissors for the job you don’t want to cut in for something accent something’s loose inside hopefully it’s supposed to be come on this is going to be a big plane by the time it’s finished because that’s we like fish as long as it fits in the car we like big that’s another benefit of how these two guys build or design their models though as well both of them travel a lot both of them know about how difficult it is to transport ridiculously big models or especially long fuselages so normally all the designs look like this one are designed in such a way that they can quite easily be split and all that needs to be attached are a few screws and a few wires hopefully in case we only need to do that so let’s have a look I’m running out of table space here it definitely doesn’t have a shortage of wrapping or tape next time I do an unboxing I’m going to unbox it first unwrap it and then just pull it out of the box that’ll be easier what do you think I’d be cheating though wouldn’t it go away I think I should title this video Martin fights with the Box that now that is a chunky fuselage what was lit down to Something in the front there as you can see maybe just like that pull that over there ah okay so that’s the tray for all the electronics wherever that goes we’ll figure that out in a future video at the moment let’s just drool over the plane for a bit so so we’ve got the back here some big tubes into which the elevators are going to slide and then the servos are going to control that through the back here somehow they’re all bushed so there should be no binding which is good what kind of holes have we got down here there we go so we’ve got the hatch that we saw earlier and then the two triangle hatches as well which will cover up part of this hole into which the two landing gears will come in and out of and there’s not much else really I just want to get building in I mean how big is this Fusion if I stand that on the floor now I’ll put something on my foot that is a because hang on put it on the floor carefully now bear in my bear in mind that it’s actually longer than that because we’ve got the tailpipe to go on the bottom so that’s about that much extra and we still have the nose to go on and if I do that yeah that’s not that’s not going to fit in here in vertical so it’s about well yeah you can see how much is missing there to be able to fit that in here look right and I’m not a small guy either tall wise I mean I’m I’m skinny not as much as I used to be but I’m skinny but I’m not sure from that sorry I’m talking nonsense I’m excited I’ve got a new toy forgive me anyway I’ll do for now I’ll uh have a quick one so over everything else again quietly and peacefully uh the servos are arriving tomorrow so I’ll uh be able to start building very very soon and we’ll film the whole process if there’s anything particular that you want to see in that process leave in the comments below and we’ll try and incorporate that into the future videos and build process until then leave us a like subscribe if you aren’t already let’s go build an fc1
