a little modification on the struts for the landing gears on the hsd me 262. as you can see so i removed the the the cover this uh this door i removed from from there and just to show you how stiff it is it’s just quite impossible to to move it so what we what we will do is remove the wheel and remove the struts [Music] let’s unscrew the wheel all right [Music] so let’s put it like that and now we will um with a circlip tool we’ll try to that’s done your clip is here remove it that’s it so now it’s off you can see how hard it is to to put that in so let’s take this apart just have to pull and there is a lot of grease it’s like some glue it’s it’s full of glue it’s sort of a i don’t know it’s grease but you really have to take a paper toil and you see it’s glue and that’s why it’s so stiff because it’s glued the struts inside so now we will uh we will remove all that uh that glue we look at four coils and one two three and four i will cut here on the four [Applause] we will try to remove the grease from the the leg so in on the outside of it just like that and inside so you you can’t you can’t see anything but there are some inside so we’ll make some something like that around a small screwdriver or whatever and then we try to to put that in it’s really sticky my hands are really sticky it’s full of glue i’ll try with that tool yes and as you can see there is some glue and i will add some some vaseline or silicone oil to lubricate the suspension the struts oh i put some inside not too much a few droplets and i will put some on the suspension too on the spring sorry a spring that’s the word and inside of this uh this leg i will have to remove it too so let’s put that in and make some circles and let’s take it apart and it’s it’s full of glue yeah it’s better there are not not too many glue inside right and then i will put my spring inside this leg put some some vaseline or silicone oil as you wish something to lubrificate it but not stick it of course all right and then we’ll put that in and make a test i will put some on the outside right there we’ll put it back in oh yeah and as you can see it’s way way way better now i can you see i i i couldn’t move it before the modification and now i can i can push it so we will put it back here we go all right the wheel is on now we will put that back again here you go and now before putting this here clip yeah it’s way better that’s a suspension you see it’s still hard not too soft but four coils for the main gear and i cut two two and a half for the nose uh the nose gear two and a half course i did the same remove the grease and it’s uh it’s perfect like that so that’s it i will put it the the circlip again and that’s all thanks guys and then enjoy your hsd emmy 262. have a good one see you bye you

Brilliant video, is this modification recommended on the L-39 as well?
I’ve broken 5 nose gear pins this year in 3 different EDF’s. (I know what you’re thinking- “You suck at landing Jeff! Buy an RC boat.”) And you’re right. But now that I’ve reached “Expert Mode” replacing nose gear pins, (a silly, tiny weak link in an expensive EDF. Replaced the nose gear pin ironically in the Freewing Me-262 and in the T-33 Saturday night. Looking at the design I thought there has to be a better way to keep the pin from shearing. The spring in both EDF’s are very rigid. I’m wondering if I do the same and shorten the spring if it would take pressure off the nose pin?
I’ve also broken 3 nose pins on the F-16 Thunderbird. (Over a 100 flights on the Eflite a-10 and no broken pins, and some horrible, bounced landings)
Look forward to seeing this in action!
Good luck on the maiden! 🙂
Nice! Looking forward to the maiden. I wish I have enough place to accommodate this beautiful jet in my hanger.
I cut off 1/4 of the factory spring, then put another piece of softer spring in the nose strut(maybe 50% softer than the factory spring, but stiff enough to hold the nose leveled on the ground). So it is really soft on the first 1/4 of the strut compression. This reduces jumps if I hit a bump on the runway, or if I touched down on the nose wheel first.
Great video .
Hello comment tu vas ??
