VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Too many people still use pre-made extension leads in their planes. Making your own is not only cheaper but better! Always have the right length extension properly made every time! This is my step by step of how I make mine, normally using Powerbox Premium wire.

hi guys one of the questions I get asked a lot is how do i do my extension leads particularly do i buy them already made or do I make them myself well anyone in large-scale aerobatic or Jets I would always recommend making your own simply because it’s so much easy to have the wires at the right length than trying to adapt based on 25 centimeter adapters one and another as well as being able to make the full length diffuse nodular wings with a single wire reducing our number of connections or failure points so in this video I’m going to show you how I make my extension leads using power box wire and the power box crimpers okay so the idea is without a little small crimping piece to put it onto the end of the wire so we can finish off the connector first thing obviously you need to peel the wire itself just removing the plastic and now we insert the terminal onto the wire trying to make sure to catch the plastic with the two little flaps on the end of the terminal now I always close these down with some normal pliers first just to hold it in place put their back on there to close it down a little bit just to make it easier in a moment when we actually start crimping so that’s that done that’s more or less holding itself on there and as you can see the first two flaps are holding the plastic which is what’s going to grip onto it as and when and then the actual proper wire is inside the rest of the terminal now we want the open side of those flaps to go into the closed u-shape of the pliers with the closed end of the terminal going onto the pointy side so if we just put that into place there and close down squeeze tightly release we have one perfectly finished crimp end and you can see this is now nice and tight because it’s holding on to the plastic side of the wire yet on the inside where it’s been crimp down as well we’ve just caught the nice copper wire we can now simply push this into our connector end like so easy I will just repeat the same thing again for the remaining wire easy

Hey Martin. super video, again;).. many tips and good inspiration. You are really a good ambassadoer for our sport/hobby. Keep up the good work m8. Aim high-fly low 😉 best regards MaxDK
Great video. I bought a nice crimper, wire stripper and hardware a few months ago, but put it aside after unacceptable results. Your video made the operation very staight forward and I completed several servo connectors today without any waste. Your tip at 1:45 about using a small pliars to slightly crimp the wire holder made all the difference. Your clear explanation of the process also added to my success. My first one came out alright, but everyone there after was spot on. Thank you for posting!
